Cassandra Griggs is a proven higher education executive, specializing in HBCU administration. Cassandra served as Director of Alumni Relations and Annual Giving at Tennessee State University from 2012 - 2020. A 25-year veteran at the institution, she served in various prior roles including Information Research Technician, Associate Director of Alumni Relations and Director of Annual Giving. During her tenure, her accomplishments involved: Organizing the University’s first Annual Fund program where alumni giving increased from $500,000 to $2.5 million annually and the percentage of alumni donors went from 3.9% to 7.1%; developing and implementing the Class Agent and Class Gift programs, which generated approximately $300,000 annually for student scholarships; and creating signature programming for the University’s Centennial Celebration and Homecoming Week, just to name a few.

Prior to joining Tennessee State University, Cassandra served as Quality Control Manager at Gannett, Incorporated where she supervised a staff of nine sales verifiers, reviewed and edited sales files, and generated daily sales reports for clients such as Discover Card, Compass Bank, Union Planters (now Regions Bank) and Gannett corporate leadership. 

Selected in 2019, by her peers, to serve on the Commission on Alumni Relations for the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), Cassandra also serves on the CASE District III Board of Directors as Representative-at-Large and on the HBCU Task Force (2018-present). She served as an Executive Board member with Smithson Craighead Academy Charter School from 2007 to 2011, Chairperson for Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools “Read Me Week” in 2005 and 2006, and as a Board member with Book’em, a reading for success program for children from 2004 to 2008. 

Cassandra holds a Master of Professional Studies (MPS) in Leadership and Organizational Administration (with honors) from Austin Peay State University and a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree from Tennessee State University.
